Good morning kindergarten friends,
Today is Thursday, May 28th, 2020.

Please Finish Project for Friday:
Please listen to The Important Book by Margaret Wise Brown.  It is one of my favorite books because it makes me feel super special.  I love to write poems for kindergarten kids in the spring about all the ways each of you are important to each other.  I need all of you to help me with this.  Over the next few days will you please think of one thing about each person in our class that is special about them?  Your family can help record your words and send them to me as soon as possible.

Parents can you please cut/paste my chart into an email.  Or you can send a picture of your child's important list.   The kids can do a few children each day or all at once.  They can share just a couple of kind words for each friend. (I did an example/other ideas:  Fun to play with.  A great artist.  A fab mathematician. Great reader.  etc).  Thank you for all of your help.  This is my end of year project.  I have done this for every kindergarten class and I want to continue the tradition!

Dear Kindergartners!
There are so many exciting things happening in nature right now! Oodles of new shades of green popping up, dandelions and violets blooming, bees and other insects buzzing about looking for pollen, amphibians making noise and moving here and there, and birds and other animals preparing for having babies.  Have you noticed new birds in your neighborhood, perhaps moving materials around to make nests?  This week’s activities explore how birds take on the task of making a cozy spot to lay their eggs.  We hope you enjoy these outside adventures!

Morning Message #43

Hello Friends,
Today is thankful Thursday, May 20th, 2020.

Chick Report:🐥
The chicks had so much fun yesterday seeing all of you.  When we got home they were very hungry and tired. Did you notice anything about the chicks while they were at your house?

Here is today's Daily Special   -Artful Thursday!

Math (20 Minutes):
Here is the link to Freckle.   In Freckle today there is one counting assignment.  You can try to finish any old 🐓🦁 work from before.

Literacy:
Lexia for 15-20 minutes.  Read for 30 minutes. Here is a mystery you can listen to Private I. Guana.  There is usually a problem in a story.  When you read a mystery the characters in the story need to find clues to solve the problem.

Optional Activities:
It felt so wonderful to see all of you yesterday.  Sometimes when I’m feeling a lot of feelings, it’s hard for me to describe exactly what I’m feeling.  I wanted to share a song that helps me when I don’t know how to talk about all of my feelings.  This song reminds me that it’s okay to have a lot of feelings and that talking about them with someone who cares can help!   Sesame Street sings about Feelings .  It helps to talk and write about your feelings.  How are you feeling today?  You can write a sentence and draw a picture about your feelings!
 I am feeling ___________________________.

Have an outdoor sunny day!  Love, Mrs. Cody and the 9 Chicks

Morning Message #42

Happy Chick Parade Day,
Today is wellness Wednesday, May 19th, 2020.

Chick Report:🐥
Our 9 chicks are growing so fast.  They eat chick food, known as "starter feed" or "chick crumb."  Do baby chicks
get treats?  If they are raised by a mother hen they have treats from day 1.  She tells them what to eat in the farmyard. But unlike a mother hen, we can't be there all the time to tell them what they're supposed to eat!  Left to their own devices they would choose a yummy treat over proper food every time!  I was able to video the last egg hatching.

Here is today's Daily Special  -Wellness Wednesday!

Math (20 Minutes):
Here is the link to Freckle.   In Freckle today there is one new base 10 assignment.  You can try to finish any old 🐓🦁 work from before.

Literacy:
Lexia for 15-20 minutes.  Read for 30 minutes. Here is our friend Quincy reading Please Sit Still.  Have you ever had to sit still for a long time?  It can be very tricky! I had to be very patient to video the last egg hatching⏳.

Optional Activities:
Today’s problem solver is a story problem about frogs.
There were 6 frogs sitting on a log. Some frogs jumped into the water. How many frogs were left sitting on the log?
Show your thinking in pictures, numbers, or words and share it with me.
Practice writing the numbers 1-20.  You can make them really tiny, fancy or super big!  Try doing it with chalk on the pavement.

See you soon and have an egg-cellent day!  Lots of Love, Mrs. Cody and the 🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥

Were you careful to notice what they need now to survive?

Here is today's Daily Special -Tuneful Tuesday!
