Morning Message #46

Hello Exploring Friends,
Today is Wednesday, May 27th, 2020.

Here is today's Daily Special   -wellness Wednesday!

Math (20 Minutes):
Here is the link to Freckle.   In Freckle today there is one new assignment about adding and subtracting in the 🐓 section.  You can also choose some of the other number practice problems in the 🦁 section.

Literacy:
Lexia for 15-20 minutes.  Read for 30 minutes.  Here is a story read to you by Carrie from ECO called Our Nest.

Class Activity:  Keep working on this project!
Please listen to The Important Book by Margaret Wise Brown.  It is one of my favorite books because it makes me feel super special.  I love to write poems for kindergarten kids in the spring about all the ways each of you are important to each other.  I need all of you to help me with this.  Over the next few days will you please think of one thing about each person in our class that is special about them?  Your family can help record your words and send them to me as soon as possible. Please return by Friday.

Parents can you please cut/paste my chart into an email.  Or you can send a picture of your child's important list.   The kids can do a few children each day or all at once.  They can share just a couple of kind words for each friend. (I did an example/other ideas:  Fun to play with.  A great artist.  A fab mathematician. Great reader.  etc).  Thank you for all of your help.  This is my end of year project.  I have done this for every kindergarten class and I want to continue the tradition!

Optional Activities:
Here are some ECO activities for you to consider from Carrie and her friends at the Nature Center.
Nesting "Birds and Other Creatures"

Dear Kindergartners!
There are so many exciting things happening in nature right now! Oodles of new shades of green popping up, dandelions and violets blooming, bees and other insects buzzing about looking for pollen, amphibians making noise and moving here and there, and birds and other animals preparing for having babies.  Have you noticed new birds in your neighborhood, perhaps moving materials around to make nests?  This week’s activities explore how birds take on the task of making a cozy spot to lay their eggs.  We hope you enjoy these outside adventures!
